Profile: Lo Barreiro
Producer / Arranger / Consultant
You may know her as Lo, Lauren or LoLo (that is, the new GaGa), but one thing’s for damn sure – she’s got her aca-fingers in a whole lotta aca-pies. A classically trained singer who began her vocal studies at eleven years old, Lo’s original plans to become an opera star took a different turn. Instead, she continued her voice performance studies at FSU, where she sang with and directed the all-female AcaBelles, ultimately winning a CARA solo nom. Lo went on to found Musae, a balls-to-the-wall all-female sextet (TVC’s Angela Ugolini is also a member). She’s got a way with words, too: Lo’s a CASA writer and contributor, and is owner/blogger at Acalosophy (www.acalosophy.com, @acalosophy). She’s a highly sought-after clinician for festivals and workshops as well. Since moving to Boston, she’s also added CASA Ambassador to her roster, and is an everywhere-at-once fixture on the New England a cappella scene. If you see her out and about in Beantown, be sure to buy her a banana ice cream cone.
