They’re Baaack… and Louder Than Ever.
TVC (The Vocal Company) Wire —Industry giants Mark Hines and Nick Lyons have emerged from their oft-lamented Mute Period to form The Vocal Company, an expert full-service a cappella production outfit for groups who want to “cut out the noise and amp up their Loud.”
“Loud,” Hines clarified during our top-secret interview (he would admit only to being somewhere in the 48 contiguous Lower States), “isn’t about decibels. It’s taking your group’s personality, that crazy, touching, ridonkulous thing that’s unique no matter what song you’re doing, and getting it out there for the world to hear.”
Indeed, Mr. Hines. And he should know, as should biz partner Lyons. Their absence left a gaping crater in the field, and now that they’ve returned, the industry is abuzz with rumors of just where they’ve been.
Hines and Lyons have pled the fifth, but one insider swears he saw them on an international tour of the planet’s finest acoustic structures—including Colorado’s Red Rocks, Buenos Aires’ Teatro Colón, and Lea Michele’s sinus cavities. Others say they’ve been working with Timbre!, an International Goodwill Acappella Group (IGAG) that stages deforestation protest performances. Rumor has it that a rogue Brazilian logger felled a massive mahogany near their camp, crushing their equipment and decimating their sample reels.
Either way, Hines and Lyons are back on terra firma, putting their collective decades of a cappella expertise to use. They’ve hired the most talented, passionate whippersnappers in the field, and have set up state-of-the-art mobile recording and production ops along the Eastern Seaboard. “We’re not just helping groups find their Loud,” noted Hines. “We’re bringing it straight to their door.”
According to the proverbial grapevine, huge things are in store for The Vocal Company. So fasten your seatbelts and hang on. This ride’s about to get Loud.
